Compass Educational Programs – Site Director

Compass Educational Partners is looking for the Site Director for the new location in Gravois Park to start up the programs. Compass offers quality preschool as well as warm and welcoming before- and after-school care on school campuses. Job Summary

Front-line management role.  Directly accountable for all operational aspects of the site, leading the staff to ensure quality care, Christian faith formation and education for children; achievement of financial targets, applying rigorous, proactive cost controls; incorporating active and continuous improvement in quality of operations; delivering exemplary customer service; and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws including company policies and procedures.  Meets expectations for delivering customer acquisition and retention, quality program, financial management, operational compliance and demonstrates expected behaviors. 

Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Consistently executes plans that ensure that Compass Educational Programs’ mission of serving families and children in a loving Christian environment, in alignment with organizational values and beliefs, policies and local and national standards
  • Models and embeds organization mission and values into all operations (e.g. Faith Formation, Character Formation)
  • Leads Christian faith formation and character formation initiatives at site
  • Approaches community leaders on behalf of organization
  • Articulate  in explaining importance of early childhood education (ECE) in child’s development
  • Builds relationships quickly with prospective and currently enrolled families
  • Stays abreast of regulatory changes impacting the delivery of ECE and before/after care programs
  • Efficient planning and allocation of site resources in alignment with children’s needs and budget guidelines
  • Actively leads teaching staff to effectively accomplish site targets, objectives and goals
  • Takes ownership for his or her operation and can successfully grow enrollment
  • Ensures that the teacher and mentors are monitoring the success of each child by consistently checking documentation and family communication
  • Develops teaching staff by conducting ongoing observations, coaching and embedded professional development opportunities
  • Leads learning of entire staff by facilitating professional development days and conducting instructional staff meetings
  • Ensures teachers instruct children using developmentally appropriate practices while consistently and effectively utilizing Compass Education Model curriculum and strategies
  • Stays abreast of ECE and before/after care trends by reading research reports and related articles  
  • Ensures orientation and training is received by all new and experienced teachers and/or others and equips employees with job-critical knowledge and education
  • Conducts financial analysis of center results, evaluates, assesses and determines course of action with supervisor, meets budgetary expectations
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with state licensing authorities, community contacts and Educational Enterprises, Inc. national team. 
  • Works in collaboration with regional Community Relations Managers to create and implement plans and strategies that result in increased enrollment  
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as organizational policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Degree or license in teaching, early childhood education, or school administration preferred
  • Articulated faith in Christ Jesus and a desire to share the love of Christ with children and community  
  • Active member of a Christian congregation
  • Experience teaching/leading in a Christian organization preferred
  • One or more years of experience managing non-exempt employees, quality control, and finances in service industry preferred (children’s education, care, development preferred)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of families and children
  • Demonstrated strong skills in sales and customer service
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and collaboration
  • Budget and financial accountability and revenue-generation experience preferred
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer skills – must be computer literate at a general business level
  • Ability to sustain a high level of energy
  • Ability to excel in a continuously changing, competitive environment
  • Ability to thrive under pressure
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Must be able to travel between multiple locations as needed to support site needs
  • Overnight travel to professional conferences or meetings is occasionally required
  • Both indoor and outdoor requirements are typically found at a site, depending on activities and season, may be required to be outdoors for regular, prolonged activities
